About DXOMARK Display tests: For scoring and analysis in our smartphone and other display reviews, DXOMARK engineers perform a variety of objective and perceptual tests under controlled lab and real-life conditions. This article highlights the most important results of our testing. Note that we evaluate display attributes using only the device’s built-in display hardware and its still image (gallery) and video apps at their default settings. Pros

  • Smooth when browsing and playing games
  • No frame drops are visible when gaming
  • Well-managed motion blur

Cons

  • Low brightness when watching HDR10 content
  • Too dim for comfortable reading at night (0 lux)
  • Outdoors, a visible reddish cast

The Realme GT Neo 2 5G works quite well as a gaming device, with smooth touch and correct daytime readability and color reproduction. However, the device lacks brightness when playing HDR10 videos, and users may want to manually increase it to improve viewing comfort.

At its default settings, the Realme device’s low-light readability is at the lower limits during the day, but is very low at night, as shown below.

In terms of color, a slight desaturation and slight pink cast are visible on skin tones patterns in indoor photos. Outdoors, images have a reddish cast.

The left-hand chart below confirms the noticeable desaturation of skin tones on the Realme GT Neo 2 5G. The center of each circle is the target color; the further the tip of the arrow is outside of the circle, the more users will notice the difference between the color on the display and the original color of the source material. The scatter chart on the right shows the Realme device’s pink-blue oscillations when holding it at different angles, which appear almost iridescent on screen.

The Realme GT Neo 2 5G’s brightness is too low when watching HDR10 content, with overall contrast too high, thus making dark details hard to see. Further, colors are oversaturated and a visible reddish cast impacts skin tone rendering.

The Realme GT Neo 2 5G shows some frame drops at 30 fps and 60 fps, but no frame drops are visible when playing games; further, it does not show any frame duplications and appears sharp on moving objects. After jumping forward or back in the timeline, the GT Neo 2 5G  pauses before resuming video playback.

The Realme GT Neo 2 5G is accurate when zooming in the gallery app, although the zoom is capped. The device’s smoothness when gaming is satisfying.

The Realme device handles flicker well. It responds to some ghost touches from time to time, but manages them well overall.
